Former Arsenal forward, Kanu Nwankwo has shown support to Kano Pillars players attacked by armed robbers on their way to Owerri to honour the Nigeria Professional Football League opener against Heartland.
A bus carrying Pillars players was attacked on Thursday afternoon and Super Eagles player Gambo Mohammed was shot alongside Otekpa energy, Ekpai Ubong, Rueben Ogbonnaya, and Adamu Murtala but fortunately none died as they were quickly rushed to the hospital.
Thankfully the players are said to be responding to treatment and the League Management Company (LMC) has rightfully postponed the game which was originally billed for today but all other fixtures will go on as scheduled.
“Please let’s pray for Kano Pillars players that got attacked by bad people and may we never hear anything like this happen to our clubs again,” Kanu wrote on his official Twitter account.
