Portsmouth of England forward Iniabasi Umotong has expressed great joy for scoring on for her country in the 3-0 win over the Kogi Confluence Queens last Saturday in Abuja.
Iniabasi who scored the third goal for the Super Falcons said after the match that her joy at scoring after coming in as a late substitute knew no bounds.
“It is amazing to score. I cannot explain my joy at donning Nigeria’s jersey and score. I thank my team mates and my coaches for believing in me and giving me the confidence to play and score. I am encouraged to do more for my country.
''I have been able to adapt to the attacking style of the team because it is similar to the way we play in my club but I still have a lot to learn here. The girls' enthusiasm is great and with the spirit in camp, it will be foolhardy to write off Nigeria at the world cup,'' stated the 20-year-old.
Iniabasi who has played for England under-15 team said that she would be under a bit of pressure to continue to do well and convince the coaches that she is good enough to make the squad that will go to the world cup in Canada.
''The pressure is a bit higher now but it only makes me want to do better because I am wearing Nigeria’s colour with Nigeria’s badge on it,'' she concluded.
