FC Porto youngster Chidera Ezeh has vowed the Flying Eagles will fight to win the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal.
“We will fight to win the trophy here,” said Ezeh, who at 17 is the youngest player on the final Nigeria squad to this tournament.
“We’re proud to represent Nigeria and hopefully we will not let down our great country, just as we did at the U17 level.
“We are humbled by the expectations back home and we now want to go all the way.”
Ezeh battled a hamstring injury at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup and so had to make do with a goal and a bit role as Nigeria romped to a record fourth world championship at that level.
Nigeria begin their quest for a seventh AYC title on Sunday against hosts Senegal at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar.
Cote d’Ivoire and Congo are the other teams in their group.
