Newly elected chairman,
Ekiti State Football Association, Ayo Alabi, has said that engaging the
youths in sporting activities will help in reducing the rate of crime
in the society.
The
astute football administrator made this disclosure in Ado-Ekiti at the
weekend and promised to build of a Football House in Ado, the Ekiti
State capital before the completion of his 4-years tenure in office.
He
therefore, vowed to restructure the State League which will now be an
home and away format within the 16-Local Governments in the state and he
will encourage all the Local Governments in the state to float a club
so as to engage the teeming unemployed youths and secure the future of
the youths.
The
Chairman further assured that members of the Ekiti State League
Management Committee will be inaugurated before the end of April 2015 in
preparation for take off for the newly restructured Ekiti State League.
Alabi
who is the proprietor of Nigeria Nationwide League 1 side, Juvenile
Football Club, stated further that exceptional players from the proposed
restructured State League will form the bedrock of the proposed Ekiti
State Football Academy.
He
said; “When the youths in the society are involved in sports and
sporting activities, the rate of crime will be drastically reduced,
hence the need for all hands to be on deck and ensure that sporting
activities are supported for the betterment of society.”
He called on all stakeholders in the state to support Ekiti State Football Association in its vision to re-brand football in the state.
However,
Ayo Alabi has donated a brand new Saloon Nissan Primera Car to the
State Football Association for the day to day running of its
secretariat.
Meanwhile,
Alabi who just returned back to the country few days ago, has
immediately swing into action as he inaugurated a 5-Man committee to
organize the state 2015 Federation Cup.
The
committee comprises of former IICC and Green Eagles Star, Coach Segun
Adelakun, FA Vice Chairman and Secretary Ekiti State Referee Council;
Barrister Ariyo Yomi Amos.
Others
are; FA Board Member, Muyiwa Aregbesola, Chairman Efon Local Football
Council, Olugbenga Oladimeji. The FA secretary, Mrs Mercy Adegbuji will
serve as Secretary to the Committee.
