The Dolphins Football Club contingent have finally departed the shores
of Nigeria as they headed to Dubia on their way to Tunis to honour the
CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg tie against Club Africain.
Sources revealed that the team have been in Lagos since Thursday and left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Friday afternoon.
Players and officials slept at the MMIA but would be happy to finally board an Emirates Airline flight to Dubai on Friday, to connect a six-hour flight from Dubai to Tunis on Saturday morning.
It means they will arrive in the Tunisian capital with only a few hours to spare before their CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg tie against Club Africain.
A 26-man contingent of players, coaches, back room staff, club secretary and club president, Joe Johnson departed Lagos for Tunis via Dubai.
Dolphins have never been knocked out at this stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
In 2007, the team got to the group stage but failed to make the semi-finals as they couldn’t beat El Merreikh by 5-0 in Calabar. They managed a 3-0 win. 1In 2008, the team lost to Asante Kotoko in the 3rd round.
