Villarreal are now in a streak of four consecutive matches without a loss. The side’s latest triumph came on Sunday against Córdoba, and Ikechukwu Uche admitted that the win was important.
“It was important to return to the top
and get far away from the problems,” the striker told Inside Spanish
Football. “Returning to winning ways, and doing it away from home, gives
us a lot of confidence and calmness ahead of the next matches.”
“The good thing about this team is that
it always works hard and fights, even when things don’t go well. That’s
what we’ve done in moments of difficulty and now we’re achieving the
good results again.”
In the match against Córdoba, Uche managed to score a goal, and was happy about being able to help the team.
“A striker always wants to score, so
having done it makes me calm, but I’m not obsessed with goals. The most
important thing is helping the team and working to achieve victories.”
In their next league match, Villarreal
will face Real Sociedad at home, and Uche assured that his side is ready
to respond to the challenge presented by the Basque team.
