Adegboyega, Olatunbosun Inspires MFM To Historic Church World Cup Shield

MFM FC, a club campaigning in the Nigeria National League have won the maiden Church World Cup after beating United Church of Colombia 7-0 in the final in Goa, India on Sunday.


The Nigerian representatives dominated the encounter right from the beginning and it was just a matter of time before striker, Adekunle Adegboyega, opened scoring for the champions.

Within minutes, midfielder Sheriff Alashe made it two goals, while a goal from Nelson Kenedinum and another from Adegboyega completed a 4-0 lead after in the first half.

Adegboyega continued from where he stopped in the first half to complete his hat trick, and winger, Sikiru Olatunbosun found the back of the net twice in the second half.

MFM FC ended the competition without conceding a goal and scored a whopping 20 goals in five games.

Adegboyega won the top scorer award with eight goals and diminutive midfielder, Onuwa Emmanuel was voted the Most Valuable Player of the competition.
