2014 FIFA World Cup: Africa qualifying final stage

Last weekend's emergence of the 10 teams that will feature in the final stage of the African qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup has set the stage for the draw that will determine how the teams square off in the playoffs.

Cameroon, which beat Libya 1-0 on Sunday to advance from the second round, joined Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal, which qualified for the playoffs earlier.

The draw involving the teams will be held at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt, 16 Sept., according to world soccer's governing body, FIFA.

A FIFA team that includes FIFA director of Competitions Mustapha Fahmy will be in Egypt for the draw, which will use the  12 Sept. FIFA rankings to determine the seeding, with the five highest ranked teams in one pot and the other five teams in another pot.

There will also be a draw for each match to determine which team plays host first.

The home and away playoff matches to determine the five African representatives at the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 will be played during 11-15 Oct. 2013 (first leg) and 15-19 Nov. 2013 (second leg).
