Nigeria has traditionally been a tough nut to crack for Bafana Bafana. Shortly after South Africa was reintroduced to international football in 1992, the Super Eagles delivered a rough welcome-back with a 4-0 pounding of Bafana in Lagos.
Since then the teams have met a further six times. In those seven matches, Nigeria have won five times, with one draw and one South African win, which, interestingly, came in their only previous meeting in the Nelson Mandela Challenge, with Bafana Bafana claiming a 2-1 victory in Johannesburg in 2004.
