Darlington Catapults Sheikh Jamal To Federation Cup Crown

Emeka Darlington was twice on target for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Clubas they marched to a thrilling 6-4 victory over Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in the final of the Bangladesh Federation Cup on Thursday.


The hitman netted the opener for the star studded Sheik Jamal side at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

He also back heeled to Haitian forward Wedson Anselme, who sent the ball to net by a fierce left footer for his team's second goal of the highly entertaining match.

At the end of 90 minutes, the explosive battle stood at 4-4.

Darlington netted the 5th goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 107th minute by a placing shot on a cutback of Landing Darboe.

Rubel Mia sealed the fate of the match scoring the 6th goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 118th minute after placing hit shot past the goalkeeper.

It was the 3rd Federation Cup crown for the Dhanmondi outfit Sheikh Jamal DC within four years after clinching the season’s curtain-raiser soccer meet, the Federation Cup in 2011 and 2013.

They finished runners-up in 2012 losing to Sheikh Russel KC in the final.
