Carlo Ancelotti has praised the professionalism of Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, describing the forward as a good example to others.
Ancelotti added that while he wasn’t surprised by the ability of the Portuguese upon taking over at Real Madrid last summer, he didn’t expect the work ethic.
“I was a little bit surprised by how he is off the field,” Ancelotti said at a Press conference.
“He is an example for his fair play. Football needs players such as him, and Messi, Ribery and Thiago Silva. They offer a good image.
“He was happy because he loves football, because he works hard to be the best,” Ancelotti said of Ronaldo’s tears after being presented with the award.
“It is a prize for the work he is doing.
“The award is for part talent and part work. In football today if you don’t work you get nothing.
“Talent is genetic and needs work to show talent on the pitch.”
