Ikechukwu Uche gets Marcelino's praise

Villarreal Coach Marcelino has revealed his delight at the 5-1 win over Real Sociedad on Monday evening.

A pair of goals each for Giovani dos Santos and Ikechukwu Uche, combined with a single goal from Moi Gomez, gave the Yellow Submarine a convincing win over La Real.

Imanol Agirretxe netted a consolation for the visitors and while Marcelino was annoyed by conceding, he was full of praise for his players.

“We have had some good performances,” the Coach said at his post-match press conference.

“But this was very good and the confidence we showed in front of goal was brilliant.

“It would have been normal if it was a close game.

“But we went well above La Real with great pace, accuracy and speed. It’s just a shame they got that goal.
“We’re proud of that game and for giving the fans a win in the best possible way.”

Villarreal have now scored 10 goals in their last two games and Marcelino pointed to the turnaround in attacking form of late.

“It is not easy to score 10 goals in two games. Before Christmas we did not have that confidence in front of goal.

“But we’re happy when we play now and not afraid to make mistakes. That helps us to be a dynamic and bold team.”
