Nigeria Women Premier League - Team Of The Round

Ademetan Abayomi looks at the star performers from the latest round of the Nigeria Women Premier League action at the weekend.

It was a magnificent effort from a single club as Delta Queens found themselves with a quartet of representatives in the team of the week.

Tochukwu Oluehi [Sunshine Queens]

You can't ask for more from a goalkeeper. The former Ibom Angels and Bayelsa Queens star was magnificent and consistently pulled off superb saves, including stopping Josephine Mathias' penalty. The late winner from substitute Igboamalu Chinyere was a hard one on her after a world class show.

Sarah Nnodim [Nasarawa Amazons]

The Super Falcons defender looked at complete ease patrolling the defence line as if she owned it. Refused Shola Oyewusi any headway.

Joy Jegede [Delta Queens]

Led the backline well, kept Martins White Dove attackers quiet and was outstanding. She bagged an assist and was a tower repelling everything from the homers.

Akpojotor Rachael [Osun Babes]

Akpojotor didn't put a foot wrong, despite the homers pressing hard for the winner. She was fearless and rock solid. Her aerial presence was crucial for the Omoluabi Babes.

Effiom Mabel [Rivers Angels]

The youngster blanketed Taraba Queens attackers. She absolutely ruled the left flank and won all her aerial battles.

Precious Oyagbarha [Pelican Stars]

Precious made several crucial tackles while stifling any creativity from COD Ladies' midfield. She passed so well and always exploited the errors of the visitors.

Ngozi Okobi [Delta Queens]

The Super Falcons star was venomous, causing myriad of problems for Martins White Dove. Her goal was down to her silky skills and wonderful talent.

Ifenkoh Charity [Bayelsa Queens]

A superb free-kick from Charity in the first half was all Bayelsa Queens needed to defeat Ibom Angels at the Oghara Township Stadium. The strike was a bullet that caught Gift Andy off guard.

Halimatu Ayinde [Delta Queens]

Ayinde was red-hot, finding holes in Martins White's defence and burning through it like a shooting star piercing the atmosphere. Her contribution was commendable.

Precious Edewor [Osun Babes]

The Delta-born forward grows better by the week. Deservedly added to her goal tally with a side-footer for the first goal of the match.

Alice Ogebe [Delta Queens]

A searing performance from the all-action striker, who scored a brace for the 2011/12 league champions.
