Fenerbahce Denies Mikel Obi Link

Fenerbahce are not interested in acquiring John Obi Mikel, amid reports linking him to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in the summer transfer market.

It was suggested by the foreign and local press that Giuliano Terrane, sporting director of the Yellow Canaries, recently met with the Chelsea midfielder in London to thrash out a deal.

But the recent signing of Brazil national - teamer Josef de Souza, who is a central midfielder, from Sao Paulo has put to bed rumours of Mikel's imminent arrival at the Istanbul powerhouse.

''It is confirmed that Fenerbahce don't want Mikel, they bought one Brazilian Souza,'' said the top source to news24.com.

Mikel was approached by a representative of a Qatari club while he was vacationing in Dubai last month but the Nigeria international insisted that he would only join the club if they offer him five million euros in wages per annum.

The 28-year-old comes off contract with Chelsea in the summer of 2017.
