Nigeria Down In New FIFA Ranking

The dwindling fortunes of Nigeria football has being brought to fore oncemore as the country’s national team, the Super Eagles, dropped 14 places to now occupy 57th position in the latest FIFA rankings released by the World football governing body on Thursday.

The position is the worst for the Eagles team in recent times especially when one looks back that the same Nigerian team had soared as high as the 5th spot in the order of football ranking acrossthe world before now.

Though the Super Eagles recorded a 2-0 win over Chad in the period under review, it did not in any way help the ranking of the three-time African champions whonow occupy 10th position on the continent.

Algeria, who are 19th in the world, remain thehighest ranked team in Africa while Ivory Coast, Ghana Tunisia , Senegal, Cameroon, Congo, Cape Verdeand Egypt are all placed above Nigeria.
