Confluence Queens secured their first victory of the season with a 3-0
thrashing of FC Robo in a week two encounter of the Nigeria Women
Premier League played at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium on Sunday.
Aishat Bello drew the curtain raiser in the 33rd minute as she flicked home a right wing cross from Nwogu Chinyere.
Lola Phillips scored from the penalty spot with just six minutes of restart after Oke Maria handled the ball in Robo's 18-yard box.
Substitute Ogunleye Kehinde scored the final goal of the game with a superb header following a classic cross from Phillips.
Speaking after the game to Confluence Queens' spokesperson Tosin Ojo, the coach of the side, Suleiman Adamu known as "Zico", who expressed happiness on the result noted that his side could have done better just as he promised better days ahead for the club.
“It was a very important win for us, because this is our second game of the season. Our first half outing was not that impressive, but we came out smoking in the second-half and that resulted in additional two goals,” Zico explained.
“Our next game is away to Adamawa Queens, it won't be easy but I know we can do better,” he said.
However, Coach of FC Robo, Emmanuel Osahon lamented the inexperience of his wards, but insisted the team will get better having gained promotion to the top flight of women league last season.
“My girls really impressed me, as you can see they are a very young set of players. Those who know FC Robo will tell you that the team will bounce back,” Osahon said.
