Super Eagles, Spotlight Stalemate In Friendly

The Super Eagles team made up of home-based stars was held to a goalless draw at the Karkanda Stadium, Katsina, on Tuesday, May 26.

The friendly match between Spotlight FC (Katsina), who feature in the Nigeria National League (NNL) – a second level football league, and the Super Eagles was staged to open the newly built 35,000-capacity Karkanda Stadium by the Katsina State government.

Former Super Eagles captain, Stephen Keshi, who led Nigeria to a 2013 triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and a second round finish at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, made his first appearance on the bench of the Super Eagles since his return to manage Nigeria's senior football team.

The Super Eagles are preparing for the AFCON qualifier against Chad while Spotlight FC are aiming to be in top shape to knock off the strong challenge in NNL Group A1 for the only promotion ticket to the apex league in Nigeria.
