Austin Ejide yesterday suffered a hip injury in Hapoel Beer Sheva’s 2-0 victory Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The 30-year-old has already missed a game due to the injury but he has kept goal in four games before the unfortunate injury occurred in the 52 minute forcing him to be replaced by Shlomi Ben Hamo.
Ejide apparently hurt his hip while trying to pluck an area ball in his eighteen yard box.
However it's still not known if the injury will put his World Cup appearance in jeopardy until further tests.
Ejide was at the 2002 and 2010 World Cup as second choice to Vincent Enyeama.
The 2-0 victory sealed Hapoel Beer Sheva's best season since winning the domestic title in 1976 – a feat Ejide should be largely credited for, having conceded just 27 goals in 33 games.
