Busquets, Alves cleared, Pedro rested

Tata Martino has listed 20 players in Barcelona’s squad to face Sevilla, including Sergio Busquets and Dani Alves, but not Pedro Rodriguez.

Fitness concerns during the international break centred on Busquets and Alves, with both late dropouts from their respective national teams.

On from returning to full training, Busquets after a thigh injury and Alves after tendinitis in his ankle, both have been included in Barca’s squad to play Sevilla on Saturday evening, with Busquets being granted medical clearance also.

Notably, Pedro has been left out of the squad for a technical decision, seen as a decision to rest the forward after his excursions for Spain in the last week and with the Catalans facing Ajax next midweek.

After being rested against Valencia in Week 3, Xavi Hernandez and Alexis Sanchez have returned to the squad.

Meanwhile, Carles Puyol continued further his recovery from surgery to remove a cyst on his knee this summer, by rejoining his teammates by the end of this morning’s training session at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

Barcelona squad to face Sevilla: Valdés, Montoya, Piqué, Fàbregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi, Neymar, Dos Santos, Pinto, Mascherano, Bartra, Sergio, Song, Jordi Alba, Tello, Adriano, Dani Alves, Sergi Roberto
