Organisers of the Nigeria Pitch Awards have announced a new date and
venue for the 2014 Award Ceremony earlier scheduled to hold on
Wednesday, 6th May, 2015 in Lagos.
Shina Philips, CEO of Matchmakers Consult International, promoters of the Awards stated in Lagos that after extensive discussions with their partners, the award ceremony will now hold on Saturday, 13th June, 2015 in Abuja.
Explaining the rationale for the shift, Philips said: “Our partners, including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) are convinced that the popular attention which the awards have generated among Super Eagles and football fans necessitated the need to shift it to a date and venue which will afford all parties the opportunity to attend and facilitate with winners.
The wish of many nominees especially the Super Eagles players was to be physically present at the Awards Ceremony and that the new date and venue would make that possible.
According to him, “an Awards Ceremony is boring without the winners.” The new date coincides with the Nigeria-Chad 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier that is taking place the same day.
In a related development, the organisers announced that Payporte.com, a Nigerian e-commerce company has come on board as a partner of the Nigeria Pitch Awards. The company’s CEO, Bassey Eyo stated that since football appealed to the same target audience for their business, it was only natural for them to associate with the popularity of football and the integrity of the Nigeria Pitch Awards.
