With just five days left to the deadline of submission of final lists
to FIFA for the U20 World Cup, Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has
announced that he has a clear idea of the 21 players he will take to the
competition in New Zealand later this month.
“I am fully clear in my final squad for the World Cup, but that is not
to say there couldn’t be one or two gate crashers,” he told thenff.com.
Genk of Belgium defender, Wilfred Ndidi is expected to join up with the
rest of the squad on Monday, while three other Europe-based players –
Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon – are still being
awaited.
The Flying Eagles have been training in Nurnberg, Germany, for a week now.
On Friday evening they played a two-a-side game between the main team and the second team, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Chidera Ezeh and Bernard Bulbwa scored for the first team, before Wasiu Jimoh netted a brace for the other team.
They will play their first test match in Germany against Hoffenheim U23 team on Tuesday afternoon.
Nigeria will submit a final 21-man squad on Friday, May 15, to FIFA,
and Manu had earlier told sl10.ng he ‘feels’ for the players that will
be dropped.
