Brace Heroine Aminat Yakubu Thrills As Sunshine Queens Earns Comfortable Win Over COD Ladies

Sunshine Queens defeated COD Ladies 3-0 as both sides met in a rescheduled Nigeria Women Premier League match at the Akure Township Stadium on Wednesday.


A brace from Aminat Yakubu and a penalty strike from Patience Agbokhade gave Sunshine Queens their second win this season.

Sunshine Queens played well by dominating the midfield, controlling the tempo of the game and creating many chances, while COD Ladies put in an average performance.

The match was off to a quick start as Sunshine Queens had the ball in midfield and dispatched a counter-attack through Aminat Yakubu whose effort went just wide of the post.

COD Ladies created a good chance after neat build-up play, but Tochukwu Oluehi was aware of the danger however and
cleared the ball in great timing.

In the 24th minute, Oyesanya Sherifat was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box and she was given the marching orders. A penalty was awarded to the homers.

Patience Agbokhade converted the spot-kick for Sunshine Queens' first goal of the day.

Sunshine Queens had a couple of chances to score more, however COD Ladies' defenders managed to deal with the dangerous situations.

The home team controlled the midfield throughout the first half with Aminat Yakubu putting in a really good
performance.

The second half started a very high tempo with the Akure girls searching for more.

COD Ladies were determined to keep the scoreline low, but they couldn't curtail the firepower of a more experienced side.

A brace from Aminat Yakubu in the 52nd and 61st minute completed the rout against the newly promoted team.

Overall, it was a dominant performance from Sunshine Queens and a much deserved win.
