Super Falcons Unlikely To Participate In Cyprus Cup

Super Falcons’ participation in the twelve-nation Cyprus Cup Invitational Tournament is on the thread.

Sanusi Mohammed has stated it is unlikely the seven-time African Women's Championship winners would participate in the tournament because of the competitions ahead of the them.

“We are not sure the Super Falcons will be able to participate in the twelve-nation invitational tournament in Cyprus because of the competitions ahead of the team.

“They have the qualifiers for the 2015 All-Africa Games and the 2016 Olympic Games Football Tournament to play from March to May.

“So, it will not be easy for them.”

The Cyprus Cup is a global invitational tournament for national women teams and the 2015 edition will hold from March 2 to March 12.

The NFF director of competitions added that the association would not want anything to alter the outlined preparations for the qualifying matches.

“We will not want anything to disrupt the preparations we have outlined for them ahead of these qualifying matches.

“So, we have not yet given the organisers our words on the Falcons’ participation or non-participation.

“But it is not likely they will be there.”
