Undoubtedly the biggest African prospect at the moment, it’s shocking
that Pelican Stars captain Chinwendu Ihezuo isn’t playing in Europe
yet.
The 16-year-old forward put up an extremely impressive performance at the 2012 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, in which she scored six goals in four matches.
In the third edition of the FIFA organised tournament, Chinwendu had broken the record for number of goals scored in a single match at the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup. On September 25, 2012 she made the misery of hosts, Azerbaijan by registering a total of 5 goals in the game.
The powerful striker was nominated in the category best African footballer in GLO-CAF Awards 2012.
She has not stopped gaining admirers as her high work rate is at the highest level. The current season stats shows she has netted 10 goals and created 12 assists for her team-mates.
Strong, well-built, good in the air and above all offers openings to her team-mates. She showed class in the recent Fed Cup match against highly favoured Delta Queens.
Chinwendu is not short of suitors at home and abroad, but it shouldn’t be long before she is at one of the world’s top clubs.
