FA Election Shifted In Kogi

The elective congress for fresh polls into the executive board of the Kogi State Football Association earlier fixed for February 26 have been shifted by one day to Friday, February 27, the secretariat has revealed.


In a statement signed by the secretary of the state FA, Mr Augustine Ogunmola, disclosed that the postponement was due to clash with activities appealing to all aspirants and delegates for patience with the state's football body.

Ogunmola stated that the set dates for submission of nomination forms and screening of candidates remains unchanged as earlier fixed for February 20 and 24 respectively.

The retired veteran referee announced an increment in the number of delegates for the elective congress to 17 against 10 earlier listed following a directive from the Nigeria Football Federation electoral committee to included affiliated bodies and councils.

He however assured all candidates contesting for various positions into the state executive board of a free, fair, and credible polls.

According to him, the screening of aspirants will hold at Lokoja Confluence Stadium Indoor Sports Hall on February 24 while the elections will take place at Hill top paradise hotel, Ganaja junction, Lokoja on February 27.

Four candidates are contesting for the chairmanship position namely Comrade Ibrahim Mohammed, Alhaji Umar Isah, Chief Peter Oguche and Honorable Hassan Yusuf. Three contestants vying for the vice chairmanship seat are Hassan Wada, Shina Akande and Stephen Bello.

Membership aspirants are Prince George Daomi, Abdullahi Abdullahi, David Owolabi, Ohida Abdulayekini, Chogudo Ahmed, Charles Haruna, Henry Ameh, Dan Usman and Abiodun Olawale completes the list.
