Shuaibu Ibrahim grabbed a hat trick as Giwa FC defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 4-2 in the week 37 of the Nigeria Premier League.
The match played at the FIFA Goal Project Technical Centre in Abuja, saw Ibrahim scoring a hat trick in the 3rd, 21st and 48th minute respectively.
Giwa FC, playing home away from home having been banished to Abuja for their last three-home matches started the game in high spirit as they piled pressure on the visitor’s defence.
The hosts deservedly got two early goals with Ibrahim opening scoring just three minutes into the encounter, while Ocheme Edoh doubled the lead in the 17th minute.
Ibrahim also added a third for the Jos Elephants four minutes later, but El-Kanemi Warriors managed to pull one back through Demba Abdulmalik in the 43rd minute to make it 3-1.
The away team played better in the early minutes of the second half and deservedly got another goal through Benjamin Ishaya in the 46th minute.
The in-form Ibrahim replied with a half-volley two minutes later to seal victory for the host.
El-Kanemi created several goal scoring chances in the last 15 minutes as they looked like staging a comeback, but goalkeeper Olaruwanleke Ojo was excellent in goal as he made a lot of vital saves for Giwa FC.
Aminu Isah, Head Coach of Giwa FC told newsmen after the match that he was proud of his boys, adding that this has shown the whole world that Giwa FC knows how to play good football.
“We played a very good brand of football for all to see here in FCT and also dictated the pace of the game.
