Ranchers Bees pipped Supreme Court FC 1-0 in a week 29 Nigeria National League match played in Abuja on Sunday.
In the highly entertaining tie played at the Area 3 Football Pitch, both teams appeared to be full of energy at the onset of the game and tried to outweigh each other.
The homers dominated proceedings in the first half with an offensive game which kept the former Premier League side on the back foot for most moments of the first half.
Bees fought back but could not convert their chances to goals.
At the start of the second half, the hosts again took control of the game with Salami Sarki, Jacob Friday and Folorunsho Samson making a go for goals to no avail.
The trio were the architects of all moves upfront but erratic shooting and poor conversation rate were the bane of the side.
Pius Samson of Ranchers broke the deadlock with a low shot from a corner kick that beat the goalkeeper for the only goal of the match in the 77th minute.
Supreme struggled till the end of the match but could not convert their chances to goals.
Coach Julius Alhassan of Bees said he was happy that his team won adding that they hope to perform better in their next game against Kwara United in Kaduna.
“I am happy that we won but the rest of the promotion is still very open and we have a lot to do.
“We have 49 points now and I need to motivate them against the next match to ensure we win and gain promotion to the Elite Division,’’ the coach known by admirers as JJ Alhassan said.
Supreme Coach, Fatai Osho, on his part said that he was not disappointed with his team’s loss.
“In football there is always a winner and a loser, we were unfortunate that luck was against us this time.
“We now have 42 points and I am optimistic that we will win our last match away from home,’’ he said
