Emordi has insisted that Kano Pillars' leadership of the Nigerian topflight
is not under threat despite defeat at Sunshine Stars.
The Nigerian champions lost 0-3 to the Akure Gunners in the Nigeria Premier League match day 22 clash on Sunday at the Akure Township Stadium.
Former Nembe City striker Newman Musa scored a brace in the 33rd and 63rd minutes while former Heartland forward Prince Aggreh sealed the deal in added time to hand Sunshine Stars the maximum three points.
Emordi, who was obviously disappointed with his side unimpressive performance against the same side that held them to 2-2 draw in the first fixture in Kano, said they will go back to restrategise on how to consolidate their position at the summit.
“That’s football; sometimes you win sometimes you lose, but I never expected this type of performance from the players.
“Sunshine Stars have made their efforts at goal count positively. I think luck was on their side.
“Our position at the top is not threatened by the defeat, we’re still on top of the log. I’ll say it’s a momentary setback but we will go back to regroup to re-launch ourselves strongly to the comfort zone at the top.
“Pillars are still the team to beat, nothing has gone wrong with our aspiration to retain the league shield, we remain on course,” said the former Enugu Rangers coach to the official facebook handle of the Akure Gunners.
The stunning defeat leaves the Pyramid City side at the summit on 37 points from a possible 66 in the 22-week old Nigeria topflight against their conquerors, Sunshine Stars,’ 33 points from same number of matches.
