‘Brazil could bother Spain’

Brazil’s Carlos Alberto Parreira has reflected on Spain’s strength, but also the Selecao’s belief that they can match it.

The two are on course to meet in this summer’s Confederations Cup either in the semi-finals or final of the competition.

“It would be crazy to see a final between Brazil and Spain, one where both teams would look like favourites,” Brazil’s former Coach and now technical coordinator Parreira commented this week.

“Spain are the best team in the world, playing the best football at the moment and not just at senior level, because they are also winning with the Under-19 and Under-21, who are in full swing.

“They have a base of players who have been together for six years, it gives them an advantage over other teams.

“We are very anxious to meet them in the final. It would be a clash between two styles.

“Brazil would be ready to hit the reigning world champions. The Spanish needs to find a team that will bother them and that team may be Brazil.”
