Berg: United pre-season tour ideal for Moyes

Former Manchester United defender Henning Berg believes the club's pre-season programme will be ideal preparation for new boss David Moyes.

United will start their warm-up for the new campaign in Asia with games against Singha All Stars, A-League All Stars, Yokohama F. Marinos, Cerezo Osaka and Kitchee.

A clash with AIK Stockholm follows on August 6 in Sweden, before Sevilla come to Old Trafford for Rio Ferdinand's testimonial three days later.

Berg, who was the first player to win the Premier League with two different teams, is confident that the former Everton manager will be able to use those games effectively to instil his ideas and style on the team.

The Norwegian, who won the treble with the Old Trafford outfit in 1999 and also played for Blackburn, is confident that United will be fully prepared for first Premier League fixture at Swansea Ciy on August 17.

"The most important thing is for David Moyes to get to know the players, work on his way of playing, his tactics and his football style," Berg told the club's official website.

"And then you have got the last few games to actually do that before the season starts."

Moyes will face a difficult start to life as United manager, as the club have fixtures with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City before the end of September.

He will have the chance to claim his first silverware when United contest the final of the Community Shield against Wigan on August 11.
