Kolarov could leave Manchester City

Aleksandar Kolarov will seek a move away from Manchester City if new manager Manuel Pellegrini cannot guarantee him first-team football.

The Serbian defender was never a regular during Roberto Mancini's tenure, but is hopeful that under Pellegrini he will be able to move ahead of Gael Clichy in the battle for the left-back slot.

Since his arrival from Lazio in 2010, Kolarov has made 94 appearances for the club. Roughly a third of those, 33, came last season, but only 17 starts frustrated the 27-year-old.

With Clichy performing so consistently, Kolarov faces a fight to first-team recognition.

That desire to be playing regularly could see Kolarov leave and he is insistent that he is not just looking to move in order to increase his bank balance, admitting he would be prepared to take a pay-cut if it meant getting regular football.
