Brace Hero Ideye Delivers FA Cup Quarter Final Ticket To Baggies

A Brown Ideye brace helped West Brom into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 4-0 victory over West Ham at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

West Brom are into their first FA Cup quarter-final since 2008 after Ideye's brace helped ensure a 4-0 win over Premier League rivals West Ham.

The Nigeria international striker - who has found form following the recent appointment of Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns - scored either side of James Morrison's first-half stunner to help seal progression against 10-man West Ham.

The hosts led after 20 minutes courtesy of Ideye's third goal in as many games and again made the most of their first-half dominance to double the advantage before the break.

While Adrian got a touch to Morrison's long-range strike shortly before the interval, the West Ham goalkeeper could not keep it out, with Ideye's second early in the second half effectively ending the game as a contest.

West Ham - without the injured trio of Andy Carroll, James Collins and Winston Reid - almost gained a foothold when Gareth McAuley cleared Diafra Sakho's header off the line.

However, the dismissal of Morgan Amalfitano and Saido Berahino's 72nd-minute strike capped a dismal outing for Sam Allardyce as Pulis' men eased into the last eight.

West Ham Deal For Yobo Up In The Flame

Joseph Yobo's proposed move to West Ham has collapsed, SL10.ng has been specially informed by the agent thrashing out terms with the powers that be at the Londoners.

West Ham had earmarked the former Nigeria skipper as one of the defensive targets they hoped to sign at zero cost after being faced with a defensive crisis.

Indeed, defenders Winston Reid and James Collins have both been struggling with hamstring complaints in recent days, and it is all but confirmed that they will sit out Wednesday's Premier League clash against Southampton.

It is noteworthy that The Hammers did not table a contract offer to Joseph Yobo as they did not want to put the cart before the horse.

To put it another way, the Boleyn Ground outfit had wanted to discuss with the central defender before drawing up an agreement in black and white.

The response from Joseph Yobo's camp was negative, meaning West Ham need to turn their attention to other targets.

Assuming the transfer materialized, it would have been his third club in England, having previously defended the colours of Everton and Norwich City.
