Abubakar Waves Off Calls For Aligning Nigerian League With Other African Leagues

Chief Operating Officer of the League Management Company(LMC) of Nigeria, organizers of the Nigerian Professional football league, Salihu Abubakar has waved off suggestions of aligning the Nigerian domestic league to that of other African countries.

Abubakar said that such recommendations really do not hold water but will still consider having a close look at what can be done to come up with a better timing that will help Nigerian clubs prepare well and equipped for the rigors of continental football.

“Most African league calendars are just like ours, so that argument can’t stand at all. Ghana started their league in January, Ivory coast started theirs  in February. Definitely we will think about how to go about it; maybe we will have to consider adjusting the calendar a bit but not drastically,” stated Abubakar.
