Nigeria forward Moses Simon is one of
five players nominated for the prestigious Ebony Award for the best
African player in Belgium this season.
'Daddy' Simon, 19, has made an
immediate impact in the Belgian top flight after he scored six goals in
seven matches for Gent on arrival in the winter from AS Trencin of
Slovakia.
It is a form which earned the dashing
forward his full international debut for Nigeria last month against
Uganda as well as a recall to the Nigeria U20 team, who are bound for
next month’s FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
Several top Nigeria stars including Celestine Babayaro, Daniel Amokachi have won this award now in its 24th year.
The other nominees for this year’s
top prize are DR Congo stars Neeskens Kebano, Chansel Mbemba, Youri
Tielemans as well as Kara Mbodj from Senegal.
Kebano, Mbemba and Mbodj featured at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
The overall winner of the award will be known on May 11.
