Youngster joins the Blues

Chelsea have announced the signing of Croatian wonderkid Stipe Perica on Friday.

The 18-year-old striker arrives in west London from NK Zadar, after impressing Premier League scouts at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey earlier this summer.

Perica scored one goal in three appearances as Croatia were eliminated at the group stages, but the talented teenager showed enough potential to earn a lucrative move to Stamford Bridge.

After making his senior debut in September 2012, Perica went on to make 23 appearances for NK Zadar, scoring 10 goals for the Prva HNL outfit.

He is expected to go straight into Chelsea's development squad, where he will continue his progression up the football ladder, with a view to eventually making a breakthrough to Jose Mourinho's first-team squad.

Chelsea have a growing reputation for bringing through young talent, and hope that Perica will be the next academy product to establish himself in the Premier League.
