Modest ABSA Premiership side set to miss out of GNPL star

Maritzburg United, who were on the verge of signing Nigerian striker Dele Olorundare, could lose him to Turkey.

The player was spotted in Abuja trying to get his visa to Turkey.

The 22-year-old, who is also capable of playing as winger, featured for the Team of Choice last Friday during a friendly match against fellow Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to reports yesterday, the club’s management is waiting for coach Ernst Middendorp to make a decision on the player who has scored 11 goals so far this season for his current club Sunshine Stars in the Nigerian Premier League.

However, the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit would have to release some players from their squad before recruiting the Nigerian in order to comply with the Premier soccer League’s rules regarding the number of foreign players that can be registered per team.
