Gil Vicente unveils Simmy

Gil Vicente have officially signed Portimonense’s scoring machine Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old was out of contract after a successful spell at the Portuguese Divison 2 outfit and posted pictures of himself at Gil Vicente's headquarters on BBM.

He netted 13 goals in the colours of the modest side and comes with a high reputation to a club. Simmy as he is called by his admirers is expected to spearhead the club's surge in the top flight cadre.

“I am very happy for this day, which is a new step for me,” he wrote in English.

“The important thing is to dream day by day.”

He was presented to an appreciative crowd and handed the number 9 jersey at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos on Saturday.

Team gaffer João de Deus praised the qualities of the lanky forward in his statement after the unveiling;

"We want the team to have extra qualities and make opponents fear us. We wanted someone to alternate between long and short attacks. It is worthwhile signing a skillful striker in Simmy," explained the coach.

Simmy will make his league debut against John Ogu's Academica on 18th August 2013.
