Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada is matching his words
with action on his promise to support the two state clubs, Kogi United
and Confluence Queens with cash reward of nine million naira for players
and coaches of both teams.
Chairman of Kogi United and Confluence Queens, Mallam Abdul Adama who disclosed this in a statement noted that the payment was part of the promise made to both teams by Governor Wada, who has expressed his satisfaction with their performances in representing the state well in their various leagues.
It will be recalled that the state government doled out #9m to the players and coaches of two teams at the end of first round having been satisfied with their performances.
In a recent interview with sportswriters, Governor Wada expressed confidence in the day to day running of both Kogi United and Confluence Queens under the control of Mallam Abdul Adama and promised that the state government is committed to rewarding hard work and discipline just as he charged the players and coaches to take the remaining matches in their league with all seriousness so as to make the state proud.
He further gave assurance of his fresh support for the two Kogi State teams and called on the state indigenes to do so.
The chairman, Mallam Abdul Adama played down on Kogi United’s promotion bid insisting that “we are not under pressure, we are happy here.”
Kogi United are sitting comfortably in the top half of the Nigeria National League, NNL table with three matches to end the season while the Confluence Queens are also having two games to finish their impressive run as one of campaigners in the maiden Women Premier League in Nigeria.
