As reactions continue to pour in following Nigeria's 2-4 loss to Brazil in their first group game of the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand, former coach of the team, John Obuh says the weight of expectations may have also contributed to the team's fall.
Obuh, who led Nigeria to both the Colombia 2011 and Turkey 2013 FIFA U20 World Cups says the pressure on the team was just too much.
"We were expecting too much from them and it put them under pressure," Obuh told sl10.ng.
"We have to reduce the expectation we have so they can play freely because they seemed to be under too much pressure."
Obuh further posited that the team must now go back and watch the tape and make adequate corrections. He also added that the players must also come to the party in the next game.
"All hope is not lost because now they have to go back, watch the tape and make adequate corrections.
"Also, the boys must come out and play in their next game. There's no place to hide and they must ensure they don't repeat those mistakes in the second game," he said.
