Number one citizen of Nasarawa State, Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura, on the Ist October, blessed players of Nasarawa Amazons with the sum of 40 million naira,
30 million naira would be used to offset players’ sign-on fees.
The remaining 10 million naira would be used to settle players allowances and the upcoming NWFL Super Six scheduled for Bayelsa State.
Almakura who announced the donation in Government House, Lafia, in a celebration marking the 53rd independence anniversary also adorned the players with the silver medals they won at the just concluded female Federation Cup competition in Lagos.
He pledged his administration’s support to the team assuring that at the moment his administration has made tremendous investment in the sector.
The outfit, Nasarawa Amazons Football Club, were runners-up in the just concluded 2013 Nigerian Women's Federation Cup, loosing three-nil to eventual winners Rivers Angels in Lagos.
