Joy In Lokoja, Kogi United Secures NNL Slot

The sport-loving Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada, has secured a spot for the state-owned football club, Kogi United to play in the Nigeria National league next season.

In his determination to re-position football in the state,Governor Wada bought a Nigeria National League (NNL) slot for Kogi united who got relegated to Nigeria National league after a woeful 2012/2013 season.

While commending the Governor, the Chairman, Kogi United FC, Mallam Abdul Adama expressed his joy and appreciation to Capt Wada for his passionate will and resolve to improve the fortune of waning sports in the state.

The commendation was contained in a statement  signed by Samuel Ahmadu on Monday.

“We are glad to have a sports-loving Governor in His Excellency, Captain Idris Wada. The NNL slot procurement for Kogi United portrayed Capt Wada's resolve to reform sports in the state – most importantly football.  He is also acting in fulfilment of his electoral promises to empower youths," Abdul Adama said.

“I am sure the upcoming season for Kogi United and Confluence Queens, will bring smiles to the faces of their numerous fans. I believe the much anticipated transformation of the clubs will happen under Captain Idris Wada”

Mallam Adama said that the decision of the governor to acquire a place in the NNL for Kogi United was to transform sports in Kogi state, promote the image of the state and ensure the club participate among top clubs in the country.
