Heartland have rubbished reports suggesting that the club blocked the move to Israel of one of their prized jewels, Benjamin Francis, 20.
In the drama reminiscent of Peter Odemwingie's botched transfer deadline day move to Queens Park Rangers, the Nigeria international fullback had traveled to negotiate personal terms with Ironi Kiryat Shmona only for Heartland to throw a spanner in the works.
And the Naze Millionaires have now insisted that Ironi Kiryat Shmona tried to poach Benjamin Francis without following due process.
''In the first place Benjamin Francis and his agent traveled to Israel without the permission of Heartland which is unprofessional.”
''Few hours to the close of the transfer market (Wednesday evening) Ironi Kiryat Shmona kept calling us, wanted to force us to accept their own terms but we refused,'' Heartland Media Officer, Cajetan Nkwopora said.
''There are three proposals we have from foreign clubs for Benjamin. We shall sit down and select the one favourable for club and player.”
“It is incorrect that we blocked his transfer to Ironi Kiryat Shmona.''
It is believed that Benjamin Francis is on the wish list of other teams in Israel plus a club in Turkey.
