Transfer Gists

David Moyes plans to strengthen his Manchester United midfield with a bid for Newcastle playmaker Yohan Cabaye, though Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are also interested in the £15 million-rated Frenchman.

Fulham have joined Newcastle in the race to sign Darren Bent, who has been ostracised at Aston Villa and could be available for a cut-price £5 million, as both sides look to bolster their strikeforces.

Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis wants to join several of his French international team-mates at Newcastle.

Arsenal have turned their attention towards signing Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo, who could be available for around £15 million after the arrival of Thiago pushed him down the Allianz Arena pecking order.

Papiss Cisse, who is absent from Newcastle's pre-season tour due to a dispute over the club's money-lending sponsors, is being pursued by a host of clubs, including Rubin Kazan, Zenit St Petersburg and Borussia Dortmund.

Tottenham are set to miss out on long term transfer target Leandro Damiao as Napoli are to complete the signing of the Brazil striker for €23 million in the next 24 hours.

Adam Ljajic is set to disappoint AC Milan by extending his contract with Fiorentina until 2017.

Arsenal have told Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar, 33, he will have to take a pay cut if he wants to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea have rejected an enquiry from Liverpool about the availability of 23-year-old left-back Ryan Bertrand.

Chelsea will offer former striker Didier Drogba, 35, a player-coach role in order to tempt him back to Stamford Bridge from Turkish side Galatasaray.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has described reports linking him to the vacant job at former club Barcelona are "pure speculation". But the Spanish champions have targeted another ex-Barca player Luis Enrique instead. The ex-Spain attacking midfielder, 43, only took charge of their La Liga rivals Celta Vigo last month.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is to be loaned out to Serie A side Napoli next season where he'll be reunited with former Reds coach Rafael Benitez.
