Castellon Signs Partnership Deal With Ondo State Government

The Ondo State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Club de Deportivo Castellon of Spain.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Rotimi Adelola at the event held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, noted that it was the first time the state would be signing an MoU on football.

He commended the Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency Akin Akinbobola for the signing of the MoU.

Mimiko said during the week, “We have been here since 2009 without signing any MoU on football, this is breaking the ground.

“The MoU will bring money for us; the state will be on the world football map.”

Akinbobola said the deal would develop football in the state.

The ODSFA chief said the agency needed to source partners in Europe to develop the already discovered talents back home.

He added that it was not Ondo State alone that would benefit from the programme as the teams in the state had players from different states of the country.

Gabriel Zarza, Director, Marketing, Club Deportivo de Castellon, noted that the MoU would bring development to football in both countries.

Zarza noted that it was hardwork that brought up the deal between both parties.

He said, “I am happy my club is the first to sign this kind of deal with the state.”
